I support Gwen Nabad for Ward 1 City Council. I have known Gwen for over five years. As a neighbor, Gwen has been supportive and proactive in supporting parents of children with disabilities. I am confident that Gwen will advocate for the needs of children who require special educational services. I learned that Gwen has lived experience advocating for high-level needs of her children in Massachusetts public schools. Gwen has a deep understanding of what it means to be a single parent of children with disabilities. She understands how to navigate services across the region and the state to inspire parents of children with disabilities, so that parents can better support their children.
Since Gwen moved to Northampton she has been an advocate for low-income families in public housing who historically don’t have a voice, and are scared to speak out. HUD has cut funding for Fair Housing agencies and ADA compliance. More cuts to HUD funding will create challenges which are unique to vulnerable people in the city of Northampton. Ward 1 residents deserve a resourceful, compassionate, fearless city councilor who has time to dedicate to the many residents of Ward 1. Vote for Gwen Nabad!
