Why is the Amherst Unitarian Universalist church hosting a “People’s Tribunal” for Palestine targeting our friends and neighbors for not being sufficiently opposed to Israel?
By “calling out,” rather than “calling in,” the UU and the tribunal will achieve no positive outcome and will only contribute to the rancor and divisiveness.
At no time in history have such small “tribunals” like this done anything other than promote, at best, intolerance, and at worst, violence against innocent people.
It is certainly the UU Church’s right to host such an event, but in doing so it is signaling that it has no interest in being an honest mediator dedicated to bridging divides or healing.
