FLORENCE, MA – Amy Jo (Ouimet) Sullivan, 75, a lifelong Northampton resident passed away peacefully on Friday morning surrounded by family and dear friends after a brief illness. Amy Jo's wit and dry humor were with her till the end, keeping the doctors and nurses in stitches, no pun intended, as Amy Jo would say. She was a daughter of the late Howard and Polly Ouimet. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Northampton High School. In her younger years, Amy Jo waitressed at several area restaurants including the Whately Inn, where she made many friends. She began a career with the Northampton Public Schools as a Para-professional where she worked for many years. After retiring, she worked for Serio's Pharmacy in the city. In addition to her parents, Amy Jo was predeceased by her husband Eugene Sullivan in 2001 and her brother, William "Red" Ouimet in 2022. Amy Jo leaves her sons, Shamus Sullivan of Florida and Sean Sullivan of Northampton. Her siblings Sandy Cunningham of Southampton and Thomas Ouimet from the Baystate section of Florence. Along with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many dear friends including Alice O'Brien, Patty Collins-Campbell and Deb Laizer who meant so much to Amy Jo throughout the years and especially in the past days, tending to her needs, holding her hand and simply laughing and reminiscing about life. At Amy Jo's request all services will be private. She will be cremated and her ashes spread in her favorite places.
