My councillor, Quaverly Rothenberg, has gone far beyond listening politely to me. She has really heard my concerns about many issues including school funding, zoning policy and infrastructure maintenance in Ward 3 and beyond. In taking her positions, she has been unafraid to express a minority point of view. She has been criticized for being too abrasive. But over-prioritizing a more cordial process may discourage debate, risks sacrificing a full airing of tough issues and impedes finding better solutions to complex problems. She has devoted herself to this difficult work. With one term behind her, I think she has learned a great deal on the job and deserves another.
