- The sale of the Saxon cross of sheep upon the Spanish Merino will take place at the sheep barn of Mr. Bates in Northampton. The sheep will be numbered and kept in their pens during the afternoon of the day before the sale for examination. The bid will be for a choice. Catalogues may be had either at the Gazette office or the place of sale.
- On Friday evening last, a fire was discovered in the building owned by Mr. Samuel Clarke, Jr. and occupied by Messrs. Wright and Rust as a grocery and dry goods store, and by Capt. W. W. Partridge as an auction store. The firemen and citizens promptly repaired to the spot, and by their spirited exertions succeeded in subduing the fire, but not without considerable damage to the building and goods.

- An examination of Mayor Feikerโs nomination papers today revealed the fact that the signatures of a score or more of prominent Main Street merchants are contained thereon. They were being โfreely signed,โ the Mayor said. Today, he waxed enthusiastic at the response his papers are meeting with.
- Dr. John C. Allen has received acknowledgment from the trustees of Forbes Library of a recent gift he made to the library. This was a photograph of the Coolidge-Dawes caravan committee, made from a cut which appeared in the Mid-Week Pictorial of Sept. 25th, last, by Eric Stahlberg of this city.

- Mayor Sean M. Dunphy on Wednesday named Charles DeRose, the co-publisher of the Daily Hampshire Gazette, and Eric Stahlberg Jr., the operations manager of the Pro Brush Division of the Vistron Corp., to head the cityโs Industrial Park Marketing Advisory Committee. DeRose was appointed chairman, and Stahlberg, co-chairman.
- The Southampton Historical Book Committee has announced the sale of the townโs newly published history book, โSouthampton, Newtown on the Manhan.โ The book is one of the products of the townโs bicentennial celebration and is, perhaps, the most lasting memorial to the townโs heritage that has been produced in conjunction with this celebration.
