It’s win-or-go-home time for six Hampshire County volleyball teams as the MIAA unveiled its state tournament brackets on Tuesday morning.
Smith Voc secured the highest seed of all area teams as the seventh-ranked squad in the Division 5 bracket. The Vikings went 13-3 during the regular season and were small school vocational tournament finalists.
Smith Voc will host No. 26 Prospect Hill Academy Charter (Cambridge) in the Round of 32 at a date and time to be determined, as of Tuesday evening. Prospect Hill recorded a 12-4 regular-season record.
Also in Division 5, Granby got one of the final qualification spots as the 37th-seeded team. The Rams (12-8) will try to take down No. 28 Charlestown in a preliminary round match yet to be scheduled as of Tuesday evening
The Townies accrued a 9-6 record.
Frontier, South Hadley and Easthampton all made the Division 4 tournament, with the Red Hawks leading the charge as the 14th-ranked team.
Frontier (7-12) will welcome No. 19 Millbury to Goodnow Gym in a Round of 32 bout on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Woolies (6-14) were state semifinalists in 2024.
The Tigers will hope to knock off No. 9 Wahconah in the Round of 32. South Hadley, which received the 24th seed, finished their regular season 10-8.
The Warriors (14-7) were beaten in the Western Mass. Class B final by East Longmeadow, 3-0, in their most recent match.
Rounding out Division 4 teams, the Eagles will play host to Minuteman Regional in the preliminary round on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Easthampton (6-14) was seeded 31st, while the Minutewomen (13-6) got the 34th seed.
Amherst is the final area team to make the MIAA tournament. The Hurricanes will compete in the Division 2 bracket.
Despite a 14-6 record, No. 20 Amherst will be on the road in its Round of 32 clash with No. 13 Reading.
The Rockets registered an identical, 14-6 record as the ‘Canes. These two teams will meet Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
