The Smith Academy girls soccer team shut out Tech Boston Academy, 4-0, in a preliminary round game of the MIAA Division 5 state tournament in Hatfield on Monday afternoon.

The 30th-seeded Falcons improved to 8-9-2 in the victory against the 35th-seeded Bears.

Next up for Smith is a meeting with No. 3 Hull (8-5-3) in the Round of 32, in a game that’ll be played on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Frontier 8, Lynn Voc 2 — Maddie Fagan’s four goals fueled the Red Hawks in their Div. 4 preliminary-round victory in South Deerfield on Monday.

Frontier, the 22nd-seed, also received goals from Addy Morey, Skyler Steele and Mara Allium.

The Red Hawks move on to the Round of 32 where they’ll face off against No. 11 Tahanto Regional in a game that has not been scheduled as of Monday evening.

Old Colony Regional Voc/Tech 6, Gateway 1 — One goal was all the Gators could muster in their preliminary-round defeat in the Div. 5 tournament.

The Cougars, the No. 28 seed, advance to play No. 5 Saint John Paul II.

Gateway, which entered Monday’s match as the 37th seed, concluded its season 8-5-2.

Clinton 2, Easthampton 1 — The Eagles were edged on the road in the preliminary round of the Div. 4 tournament.

Easthampton’s final 2025 record came in at 9-8-2 following the loss.

Boys soccer

South Hadley 4, Blue Hills Regional Tech 0 — Four different goalscorers powered the Tigers in their preliminary-round win over the Warriors.

Matt Gillis, Spencer Parsons, Hunter Keller and Peter Barone potted strikes for South Hadley, while Noah Carillon picked up the shutout with seven saves in goal for the Tigers.

South Hadley, the 23rd-seed, will move on to the Round of 32, for a date with No. 10 Frontier Regional.

The Western Mass. showdown will take place on Wednesday in South Deerfield at 7 p.m.

Hampshire Regional 2, Excel Academy Charter 1 — Despite being the lower seed, the Raiders took down the Wolves on their home turf in the preliminary-round upset.

Hampshire came into the meeting seeded 36th, while Excel boasted the 29th seed.

The Raiders advance to the Round of 32, where they’ll head to No. 4 Ayer-Shirley.

Kickoff is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Weston 3, Holyoke 0 — The Purple Knights’ time in the Div. 3 tournament was brief as they were blanked by the Wildcats in a preliminary-round contest.

Holyoke earned the 40th and final seed in the bracket, but couldn’t upset No. 25 Weston.

The Purple Knights wrapped up their season with a 11-6-2 record.
