I’d rewrite the Nov. 25 guest column headline [“Store’s apartheid-free pledge alienates instead of unites”]. It should be “Store’s pledge alienates some while uniting others.”

Some of us Jews do not yet recognize that Israel is an apartheid state. Others unite around the world with folks of all persuasions, inside and outside of Israel and Palestine, who want an end to apartheid (a global movement that used the same tactics on South Africa).

I for one think that an apartheid state is more fraught with what the writer calls “alienation and dehumanization” than anything he is experiencing right now, losing a shopping place to a boycott.
