The Belchertown girls basketball team picked up its first home win of 2026 after taking down East Longmeadow, 55-54, on Thursday night.
The Orioles came back to win after facing a three-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Gabby Slovack and Morghan Litz led the way in scoring for Belchertown with 14 points apiece. Litz made four 3-pointers in the victory.
Aubrey Klingensmith tallied 12 points for the Orioles, while Kina Roy’s trio of long balls led to an 11-point performance.
Belchertown improved to 5-4 on the season in the one-point victory.
Lee 51, Easthampton 43 โ The Eagles two game winning streak came to an end as the team failed to surmount an early deficit on Thursday night.
Samone Young made seven shots from the field, leading to a 16-point performance in the loss.
Teagan Crussana finished with seven points for Easthampton, while Nola Roos and Camilla Corsello each had six of their own.
Pittsfield 79, South Hadley 64 โ The Tigers’ early-season struggles continued in a tough loss on Thursday.
Kate Phillips led South Hadley with 21 points in the loss, making eight field goals and five free throws.
Taylor Bullough hit four 3-pointers in a 19-point effort, while Cara Dean tallied 11 points.
Frontier 57, Lenox 30 โ The Redhawks kept rolling with a win over the Millionaires in the Berkshires. After the Suburban league win, Frontier (10-1, 7-0) has now won 10 straight.
Skyler Steele had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Redhawks. Addie Harrington (17 points) and Harper Modestow (11 points) were also in double-figures. Harrington filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Modestow held down the defense with five blocks. Whitney Campbell registered five assists.
Pathfinder 47, Smith Voc 37 — The Vikings lost just their second game of the season in the 10-point defeat to the Pioneers.
Lillyana Malloy led Smith Voc with 10 points on a night where the Vikings struggled making shots in the first half. Pathfinder led, 24-8, at halftime.
Minnechaug 48, Northampton 36 — Thursday’s loss was closer than the first meeting between these two squads this season, but the same result for the Blue Devils, nonetheless.
The Falcons won the first game, 75-35, in December.
Emme Calkins scored 18 points to pace Northampton, which found itself in a defensive battle in this one as the score read 3-2 in favor of Minnechaug after eight minutes of action.
The Falcons outscored the Blue Devils, 18-8, in the final frame to pull out the ‘W’.
Mahar 63, Smith Academy 38 — Vivian Higuera tied the game-high in points with 18, but the Falcons fell to the Senators.
Smith Academy has now lost two in a row.
Skiing
Amherst’s Amelia Morse and Maya Phillips earned top-10 finishes during the third PVIAC meet of the season in the giant slalom competition at Berkshire East Mountain Resort on Thursday night.
Morse grabbed third place in 35.00 while Phillips earned sixth in 36.45.
Bin Wang led the Hurricanes boys team with a 12th-place finish with a time of 54.36 in the slalom.
Hampshire’s Hazel Scully-Henry was the Raiders’ top finisher in the girls giant slalom, taking fifth place in 36.12.
Billy Warren (third, 45.06) and Isaac Stith (fourth, 47.72) raced well for the Hampshire boys squad in the slalom race.
Swimming
Amherst 112, East Longmeadow 68 (girls) — Rowan and Emory Albertson powered the Hurricanes to the decisive victory against the Spartans.
Rowan Albertson won the 200 IM in 2:25.07 (Division 1 state meet qualification) and the 100 free in 58.15, while Emory Albertsonย claimed the 500 freestyle (Div. 1 cut) with a time of 5:46.34.
Charlotte Hope (200 free, 2:29.30), Vivienne Henry (500 free, 6:46.97), Audrey Spiridopoulos (50 free, 27.45 and the 100 breaststroke, 1:19.59) all earned a spot into the Fast Chance meet.
East Longmeadow 111, Amherst 47 (boys) — Tallon Demers won the 50 freestyle with a 23.33 to highlight the Hurricanes.
Lloyd Schattin also earned a spot in the Fast Chance meet, later this season.

Boys basketball
Easthampton 55, Ludlow 43 — A 21-point fourth quarter helped the Eagles pull away versus the Lions on the way to their seventh straight victory.
Patrick Larson secured a team-high 14 points for Easthampton, followed by Jay Brown’s 13 points and Rae Mathurin’s 12.
Swimming
Central 106, Holyoke 54 (boys) — Ibrahim Salloum swam to a pair of first-place finishes for the Purple Knights in the defeat.
Salloum won the 200 IM and the 500 freestyle as Holyoke’s top performer in the pool.
Central 126, Holyoke 29 (girls) — Maeve Healy (500 free), Kierstin St. Lawrence (50 free) and Katie Caron (200 IM) won individual events for the Purple Knights in the loss.
