Progressive hypocrisy
I deeply value all the work U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern does while in Congress. He is one of the most genuine and caring representatives I have ever encountered in my almost 40 years living in the USA.
And, (there is always an ‘and’ when you do public service work), his most recent newspaper comments about Rep. Natalie Blais’ retirement troubled me. Sure, Rep. Blais is wonderful and, to use Rep. McGovernโs words, “an incredible public servant.” However, Rep. Blais just resigned from a job paying less than $100,000 a year to start a job at UMass ( a state institution to help raise the working class), paying a ridiculous salary of $340,000 per year. And Democrats and progressives wonder why working-class voters have lost faith. What does one do to earn $340,000 at a state university? Surely you must see the conundrum here, the almost hypocrisy of the situation.
