After the recent storm, we once again see piles of snow in the middle of Main Street narrowing passage. I have been concerned that the new plans for Main Street will lead to paralysis in the winter when even fewer car lanes will be available. I went to the city’s website a year or so ago and there was a statement that “The DPW has been consulted on the change and is developing a plan for snow removal and storage.” This statement has not changed over the year. If there is no plan after over 12 months of study, it could be that there is no plan. I would hate to see downtown in some kind of state of paralysis for three months a year (during which time the bike lanes will be unpassable).
