  • In the recent Remington typewriting test for January at the Northampton Commercial College, Alma J. Bridgman, Nita M. Jensen, Erna Goldstaub and Gladys Richards won gold pins for writing more than 55 net words per minute for 15 minutes.
  • While coasting with other boys on Crafts Avenue last night, John Noges of 16 Wright Avenue ran into a light truck, operated by Martin Gleason of Belanger Place. He was taken to the office of Dr. Thomas Corriden and later to Dickinson Hospital. The extent of his injuries has not yet been determined, but no bones were broken, and he is resting comfortably.

  • Northampton’s License commission approved an application this week for a common victualer’s license from Daryl C. Springman for a new restaurant at 21 Center Street. The commission also approved a petition from the Polish Home of Northampton, Inc., for a change of manager from Frank Tomaszewski to John F. Gnatek, Sr.
  • The Daniel Shays Project, Inc., the new summer outdoor theater scheduled to open at Look Park in July, is seeking community residents with information on events which occurred at the Pines Amphitheater in the past 34 years. Liam O’Brien, director of the project, said that he is interested in compiling the information for a display to be on exhibit at the theater’s weekend productions.
