The David Ruggles Center appreciates the Gazette’s coverage of our presentation on Sojourner Truth that ran on Feb. 27. We need to clarify, however, that she was never accused of murder. The court case referred to in the article involved winning her six-year-old son’s freedom after he was abducted and sold into slavery in the Deep South — a precedent-setting victory in 1828.
