It has been less than a year and a half of this Trump administration. Are you worried about our democracy? This, the 250th year of our nation’s birth, has, sadly, seen the quick rise of an aristocracy. Not rule by the people for the people, but by Trump for Trump — and his sycophants.

As we work to resist this corrupt, tyrannical regime, let us pay homage to the lessons taught by African Americans during the civil rights movement. They fought Jim Crow through key tactics that we are using in today’s struggle for freedom and democracy. Their strategy of non-violence often resulted in violence against themselves, and yet nevertheless they persisted. And still persist today.

In addition to targeting people of color, the Trump administration has also been laser focused on creating a multitude of laws against transgender people. There are individuals within your own communities experiencing significant levels of fear. Let them know you care by taking steps outlined for us by the civil rights movement, one of which is the power of peaceful protesting.

There have been no kings in the United States since its founding. There will be no kings now. Stand up and stand out peacefully on Saturday, March 28 to state strongly and loudly: NO KINGS in the U.S.A! No kings now! No kings ever!

Bring your children, your grandchildren, your family, and your friends. Bring your signs and your positive energy! Stand with fellow Americans to say, “No more!” There are thousands of rallies across the country on the 28th, and many, many right here in our local towns, in which we can stand united for our country and our democracy. Do a little online searching for No Kings, choose the standout best for you and stand proud! Silence is not an option.
