Bill Morrison

Holmes Beach, FL – Bill Morrison (1943-2026) was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born to William and Marion Morrison, now deceased. He was raised in Northampton, MA with his brother Donald and sister Kathleen. There he developed some of his life-long passions for golf and especially fly fishing. He received bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Massachusetts and devoted his professional life to helping teachers and students learn through the award-winning textbooks he worked on. He retired as Publisher for McDougal Littell in Evanston, IL. He lived in Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island in Florida starting in 2009.

Bill was known for his wry sense of humor, his generosity of spirit, and his boundless kindness. He was an avid reader, a passionate fly fisherman, and an accomplished golfer.

Bill is survived by Marianne Hiland, his loving wife of 45 years, his sister Kathleen, his brother Donald, his son Sean, his daughter-in-law Julie and his grandchildren Lily, Patrick, Chris, and Willow. Sadly, he lost his oldest son James las year, whom he dearly loved.

In lieu flowers, please contribute to Feeding America or Covenant House. His ashes will be spread at a family gathering this summer at his favorite fishing stream in Yellowstone Park. The world is a better place because of Bill and he will be loved forever by those who had the privilege of know him.
