The Belchertown boys volleyball team overwhelmed Holyoke, 3-0, in a South league showdown on Thursday.

The Orioles won each set by seven points or more, with set scores finishing out to 25-18, 25-10, 25-16.

Gavin Couchon blasted 17 kills, Arda Cayan contributed 31 assists and Dara Mao managed 20 digs as Belchertown’s top performers.

The Purple Knights remain winless on the season

Boys Volleyball

Granby 3, Ludlow 1 — The Rams kept their undefeated record intact despite dropping the first set to the Lions.

Granby roared back to improve to 3-0. Set scores were 25-27, 25-20, 25-19, 25-16.

Braeden Gallagher and Jake Gagnon combined for 23 kills while Nathan Walsh led the victors with 18 digs.

Ultimate

The Amherst Gx (Girls Division) ultimate team renewed its rivalry with Four Rivers in its 12-11 loss on Wednesday in Greenfield.

Leah Kalman and Myla Peltier paced the Hurricanes with two goals each, while Willa Hudson (three), Aria Haupt (three) and Eliza Zimmerman (two) each tallied multiple helpers.

Eight newcomers joined Amherst’s reigning state championship roster this season, with everyone seeing the field against the Otters.
