Being a human of the older variety, and living in the U.S.A., it has been my honor to have been able to vote for many years. Some elections seemed very, very important and some seemed kind of silly, but no matter where I lived and no matter how busy I was, I always took the time and made the effort to vote.
Presently, and for many years, I have lived in Southampton. My family and myself always did whatever we could to make sure Southampton would be a wonderful place to live, for everyone. That included speaking my mind, giving my opinion (I loved that!) and voting on town matters.
Something that was always very important to me and my family was having nurturing places in town for my children so they would feel safe and so that they could grow up to become the best versions of themselves. The library was one of my families favorite places to “hang out.” It still is my favorite. Currently our town seems to be struggling with issues of money, leadership and just what is the best way to keep it a wonderful place in which to live? I am not sure what the answer is for everyone, but I am absolutely sure of one thing … as a citizen of Southampton, it is your right … your honor … and your duty to vote at the Town Meeting on May 2 at 10 a.m. at the Norris School and the Town Election on May 19. I will see you there.
