Mary Ellen Carey

Chicopee, MA – Mary Ellen Carey, 65, of Chicopee, formerly of Northampton, passed away on Saturday April 18, 2026, at her home just two days after the passing of her beloved partner, Aaron.

She was born in Northampton on December 12, 1960, to the late Bernard and Mary (Sullivan) Carey. Mary Ellen attended Northampton schools, laying the foundation for her lifelong commitment to helping others. She pursued a career as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), providing care and support in multiple homes throughout her life. Her professional journey was marked by warmth, strength, and a deeply caring nature. Mary Ellen had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome, always offering kindness, compassion, and steady support to those around her. Additionally, she held a deep love for Cape Cod, which remained a cherished place in her heart.

Mary Ellen enjoyed crafting and expressing her creativity, finding comfort and joy in making things by hand. She also dearly loved her pets, Lulu, Grimm, and Bella, who brought her companionship and happiness.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Becky Goulet and her partner Alfredo Chanon, Sarah Nowak and her husband Matt, her cherished grandchildren, Davon, Kaitlyn, Mason, Jonathan, Camden, and Nathan, Her brother Dennis Carey, and his wife Joanne, her niece, Corinne Carey, along with extended family members and many dear friend who will miss her greatly, especially Geralyn Smith.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her partner Aaron Kuschka, and her nephew Shawn Carey.

Mary Ellen will be remembered for her generous spirit, her sense of humor, and the comfort she brought to others.

A private graveside burial will be at the convince of the family. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON has been entrusted with her services.
