The MIAA released its first power rankings of the spring season on Tuesday and numerous Hampshire County teams are sitting comfortably in playoff position with about three weeks left in the regular season.

The Hampshire Regional softball team is the top ranked team in the area, sitting in second in Division 4 with a 7-2 record. Advanced Math & Science holds the top spot at 9-0.

The Hopkins baseball team is the highest-ranked local boys team, claiming fifth in Division 5. The Golden Hawks have won five straight games and are 9-1 overall.

Teams within the top 32 earn a state tournament berth, regardless of record, while teams 33 and below with a record above .500 qualify for a preliminary round contest.
