Easthampton, MA – Daniel P. Parent, 78, of Easthampton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 28, 2026, at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Danny was born in Springfield, MA on October 10, 1947, to the late Paul Parent and Helen (Fairbanks) Sadlowski.
Dan spent his childhood in several places, including Springfield, Claremont, New Hampshire, California, and Northampton. He attended school in Northampton. In 1966, Daniel began working at the VA Hospital in Leeds, starting out in the Canteen before later moving to the Maintenance Department. His dedication and hard work were evident throughout his career, as he remained with the VA Hospital for more than 33 1/2 years, retiring in December 1997. During this period, Daniel received numerous Employee of the Month awards, a testament to his commitment and the high regard in which he was held by his colleagues. Even after retirement, he continued to work part time in several other positions until health issues required him to stop working.
In 1970, Dan married his beloved wife, Nancy B. Holmes Parent, on May 29. This year would have marked their 56th wedding anniversary. Daniel cherished spending time with Nancy, and together they built a loving home and family.
Daniel found great joy in deep sea fishing at Salisbury Beach and camping. He also loved playing with rhythm spoons alongside his brother and brother-in-law at various family events, creating lasting memories through music and laughter. His warmth and enthusiasm made him beloved by all his family and friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 56 years, Nancy (Holmes) Parent of Easthampton, his son David D. Parent and his wife Lillian of Georgia, his daughter, Kristin Daviau and her husband Chuck of Easthampton, his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, Leah and Dominic Parent, Amanda Batura and her boyfriend Noah, Carissa Batura-Raymond and her husband Jake, his sisters, Violet Haskell, Kathy Grzeskiewicz and her husband Gary, his brother, Steve Parent and his wife Nancy (Poops Jr.), nieces and nephews, Todd and Scott Haskell, Kim and Tina Grzeskiewicz, Stephanie and Christél Parent, his Aunt Mary Labrie and her four children, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Charles Frenier.
He was predeceased by his mom, Helen Sadlowski, stepfather Stanley Sadlowski, father, Paul Parent, son-in-law, Peter M. Batura, brother-in-law, Harry Haskell, and several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the Telemetry and ICU Unit at Cooley Dickinson, as well as Bronson Rehab in Westfield for the loving care they gave to him during the last 2 months, especially Kristin C, Gina B, and Karen W. of Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday May 7, from 4-6PM at DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, 120 DAMON RD., NORTHAMPTON. There will be a Prayer Service on Friday May 8 at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
