PLAINFIELD — The median age of town officials went down after Saturday’s election, as a couple younger candidates gained seats out of three contested races.
Henry Stockman, 26, beat out incumbent Ronald Weeks for a three-year Board of Health seat by an 85 to 33 margin. In a 68 to 40 vote, Adrian Almquist, 47, beat incumbent Donna Monroe for a three-year seat as Library Trustee.
Following his election, Almquist said that he looks forward to working with and learning from other Library Trustees, and also has some visions for the future. He pitched potentially starting a “tool library” so that people can save money and collectively have access to often expensive equipment.
“I think the library is an important source of community, connection and open source knowledge,” he said, adding this sentiment is what prompted him to run for the seat.
Incumbent David Honneus will stay on as town moderator, after beating candidate Levi Gershowitz by a more than 60-vote margin.
In uncontested races, Elizabeth Lambert ascended to the Select Board after receiving 113 votes. She is taking the seat held by Judith Cole, who did not seek reelection.
“I am glad, grateful and happy that so many people came out to vote,” she said following her election.
David Bjorkland will begin serving a three-year term on the School Committee, and Erik Burcroff will stay on for another year as Tree Warden.
In total, 119 voters turned out.
