Haydenville, MA – Tom Masters, 80, of Haydenville died peacefully on May 5, 2026 at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility. Tom was born June 19, 1945 in Northampton, MA to Thomas and Helen Omasta. Tom attended local schools, graduating from Northampton High School, class of 1963. After graduation from Greenfield Community College, Tom worked the summer on the set of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf" filmed on the Smith College campus. Tom moved to New York City where he worked at NBC studios on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It was Ed McMahon who gave Tom a contact in L. A. that eventually led to his employment at the Jay Bernstein Public Relations Firm. As an agent he represented top stars of that time: including Sally Field, Michael Landon, Adam West (Batman), Glenn Ford, Earl Holliman, Rich Little, Foster Brooks, Jack Albertson, Vicki Lawrence and Helen Reddy to mention but a few. After many years in the entertainment industry, Tom relocated back to New England. He married his high school sweetheart Charonne Branch Bower. They were happily married for over 42 years. Always interested in real estate, Tom bought at auction the former Wally's Soda Bar. He was presented with an award from the Northampton Historical Commission for the preservation of this downtown property. A realtor at Murphy's Realtors for over 40 years, he always loved the art of making a deal. He was involved in the restoration of the 120 year old former sewing machine factory at 10 Main Street in Florence. He enjoyed working with his partners on weekends restoring this 19th century building, which today is a cornerstone in Florence, housing medical offices. He also developed Deer Haven Drive in Haydenville.
Tom was a longtime member of the Northampton Lions Club, serving as president from 1991-1992. An avid golfer, he and Charonne enjoyed their home and many friends at Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, FL. Tom enjoyed summer vacations in Kennebunkport, ME and visits with his beloved in-laws Chuck and Bonnie Branch at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Tom always looked forward to Tuesday lunch and camaraderie of the Romeos, "Retired Old Men Eating Out;" where tales were told, jokes exchanged and a good time shared by all.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and sister Justyne. Tom is survived by his step-son Christopher Bower and his son Kirk Masters and four grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Charonne ("Cherie").
Tom had a wonderful and full life and was able to live at home until his last ten weeks of life. The family would like to thank the staff at Linda Manor for their care, compassion and kindness. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Czelusniak Funeral Home was entrusted with his care.
