Patrick Larson led the Easthampton baseball team to a narrow, 2-0 victory over Ludlow on Monday night, dominating his opponents on the mound.
Through seven innings of work on the mound, Larson picked up a whopping 14 strikeouts without allowing a run to cross the plate. The sophomore threw 103 pitches in the win, surrendering seven hits and a walk but working around the traffic on the bases for a complete game shutout.
Anthony Incampo created traffic for the Eagles offensively, reaching base three times with one hit and a pair of walks, adding on two stolen bases as well.
Jake Kostek tallied the only other hit for Easthampton in the win, with both of the team’s runs coming in unearned fashion in the second inning.
Granby 17, Pathfinder 4 โ The Rams’ bats came to play in a lopsided victory, led by a 3-for-4 performance out of Brandon Carillon who tacked on two doubles and five RBIs.
Anthony Santiago had a huge game at the plate as well for Granby, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of walks in the win.
Hampshire 10, Amherst 0 โ Jonny Angers was efficient on the mound for the Raiders, pitching a five-inning complete game shutout that included five strikeouts. Joe Moro carried the team’s offense, tallying three RBIs and a double in the win.
The Hurricanes were plagued by six errors in the field, struggling to find consistent offense as well, with just three hits in the loss.
Smith Voc 6, McCann Tech 0 โ Nolan Ingram put together a dominant two-way performance for the Vikings on Monday night. On the mound, Ingram walked away with nine strikeouts in a complete game shutout.
Ingram led the way offensively as well, finishing his night 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, two runs scored, a stolen base and a walk.
Putnam 4, Smith Academy 3 โ The Falcons’ late-game comeback attempt came up just short in a one-run loss on Monday night. Facing a three-run deficit, the squad mustered two runs in the seventh inning before the magic fizzled out.
Darren Caney led the Falcons with a double, an RBI and a walk in the loss, also pitching the first five innings of the night and allowing just two earned runs with seven strikeouts.
Softball
Northampton 9, Pope Francis 2 — Make it five wins in the Blue Devils’ last six after breezing past the Cardinals.
Jayda Alejandro poked three hits to drive the offense while Rosie Simmons and Ryleigh Pease each brought in two runs for Northampton.
In in the circle, Greta Lepore got the win, going all seven innings and gave up eight hits, two runs, one walk, plus sat down four on strikes.
Frontier 10, South Hadley 3 — Riley Tine starred on offense and defense for the Redhawks, recording two hits and three RBIs, then threw out three runners on the basepaths as Frontier got back in the win column.
The Tigers were led by Grace Matyszewski, who cracked two hits, including a double, and drove in one run.
Monson 12, Easthampton 1 — Eagles pitcher Summer Routhier reached 400 career strikeouts in the loss to the Mustangs.
Routhier fanned 11 batters in the defeat, but allowed 10 hits.
“Extremely pleased that Summer achieved such an accomplishment, basically in two seasons,” Easthampton head coach Joe Roy said.
Boys volleyball
SICS 3, Belchertown 1 — The Orioles failed to build off a convincing first-set victory as they dropped their penultimate regular-season match.
Set scores read 25-14, 24-26, 23-25, 21-25.
Dara Mao managed a team-high 21 digs in the loss for Belchertown.
Girls lacrosse
Amherst 18, Chicopee Comp 7 — The Hurricanes broke the game open in the second half to win their regular-season finale versus the Colts.
Amherst outscored Chicopee Comp, 10-1, in the second half of play to snag the victory.
Ava Carey (seven goals, assist) and Kiko Bhowmik (five goals, assist) powered the ‘Canes on offense, while goalie Eden Polak and Bhowmik (one) combined for seven saves.
Lee 15, Smith Voc 12 — For the first time this season, the Vikings have lost back-to-back games.
Erin Miller led all players in goals on Monday with eight tucks, but it wasn’t enough as Smith Voc fell for the second game in a row after losing at Pittsfield last Thursday.
Girls tennis
Amherst 5, Minnechaug 0 — The Hurricanes cruised to their sixth clean sweep of the season in the win against the Falcons.
Amherst will play at Pope Francis on Wednesday to wrap up its regular-season slate.

Boys volleyball
Belchertown 3, Chicopee 0 — The Orioles shut out the Pacers with narrow set victories in the sweep.
Belchertown won by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.
Gavin Couchon (16 kills) and Shea Maclean (10 kills) led the O’s attack.
Baseball
South Hadley 6, Hampshire 2 — A late surge pushed the Tigers past the Raiders at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday.
South Hadley scored four runs in the final two frames to claim its third consecutive win.
Griffin Soderbaum got the win on the rubber, tossing six innings and striking out nine in the process. At the plate, the Tigers were paced by Gavin Carpenter, who went 3-for-3.
Joe Moro mustered two hits for Hampshire.
Gateway 16, Libertas 1 — The Gators wrapped up their regular season with their 12th straight win last Friday.
Starting pitcher Weston Anderson fanned eight in the victory, while Zack Hess led the team with two hits.
Granby 10, Smith Academy 0 (five innings) — The Rams brought in six runs in the second inning en route to a run-rule shortened victory over the Falcons.
Anthony Santiago, Brandon Carillon and Joseph Barrett each cracked two hits for Granby.
Barrett also secured the win on the mound, allowing just two hits in five innings of work.
Girls tennis
Belchertown 5, Holyoke 0 —The Orioles earned their first clean sweep of the season in the win over the Purple Knights.
Amanda Murray, Edith Audette and Bella Smith won in singles competition, while Emma Kornbluth and Allie Randall took first singles for Belchertown.
Outdoor track
The Purple Knights produced several event victories in short-distance events at the Lion Invitational at Ludlow on Friday.
Yasani Thompson won the 100-meter (12.65) and 200 (25.28), while Jaybriel Rivera-Soto won the 110 hurdles (15.91) and Ryan Kennedy won the 400 hurdles (59.40).
The boys team took fifth place overall with 100 points and the girls slotted in at sixth place with 92 points.
