NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton man will spend the next five to seven years in state prison after he admitted to providing drugs and alcohol to a 15-year-old girl in exchange for sexual acts and instructing her to lie about the abuse.

Corey Griswold, 36, pleaded guilty May 14 to multiple charges, including four counts of rape and abuse of a child, two counts of trafficking a person under 18 for sexual servitude, and single counts of enticement of a child under 18 to engage in prostitution, enticement of a child under 16, posing or exhibiting a child in state of nudity, possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), aggravated intimidation of a witness and reckless endangerment of a child.

In addition to the prison sentence, Hampshire Superior Court Judge David Hodge ruled that Griswold must register as a sex offender.

Following his state prison sentence, Griswold will be placed on supervised probation for five years. He will be required to participate in and complete a sex offender evaluation and recommended treatment and have no unsupervised contact with children under 18 years of age. He must also have no contact with the victim, comply with the Sex Offender Registry Board, wear a GPS monitoring device and abstain from using alcohol or drugs.

Griswold’s sentence was jointly recommended by Northwestern Assistant District Attorneys (ADA) Jillian Parent and Stephanie Jimenez, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the commonwealth, as well as Griswold’s attorney Jonah Goldsmith.

“Our office remains steadfast in its commitment to prosecuting those who seek to manipulate or exploit  minors,” Parent said in a written statement. “We commend the victim for her courage to come forward. We also thank the Northampton and Easthampton Police Departments for their professionalism and diligence throughout  the investigation, especially Detective Lauren Bolduc of the Northampton Police Department, who was  instrumental in bringing this case to a resolution.”
