Derek Ye (6-3, 6-1) and Devan Ye (6-0, 6-1) won in singles competition for PVCICS to reclaim the sectional crown.
“Derek must be one of very few Western Mass players who has played everyย match and been undefeatedย for the entire season,” Dragons head coach Mike Locher said.
Tuesday’s title-clinching victory improved PVCICS’ overall record to 12-5. One of its five losses came against Mount Greylock.
“The Mounties had beaten us earlier in the season and that helped motivateย the team to defend their home lair,” Locher said.
The Dragons will await their seed in the MIAA Division 4 state tournament. The most recent power rankings had PVCICS third overall in the state.
