The Hampshire Regional softball team narrowly pulled out a 2-1 victory in the Western Mass. Class B semifinal round over Chicopee on Thursday night.
Ryanne Dubay was dominant in the circle for the Raiders, throwing all seven innings in the win and striking out 16 batters. The junior allowed just one run on three hits, while walking two batters.
Offensively, Dubay continued her big night, picking up a pair of hits in a 2-for-3 performance that included one of the team’s two runs driven in.
Reygan Horstmann drove in the other run for Hampshire in the win, finishing her night 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored as well.
With the win, the Raiders move on to the Class B final, set to take on second-seeded Frontier.
Monson 4, Granby 2 โ The Rams couldn’t hold on to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, with the bats going quiet and leading to a loss in the Western Mass. Class D semifinal round.
Granby tallied four hits on the night, with Ellie Szlosek, Kaitlyn Curran, Jaidyn Roberge and Josie Curran each doing their best to generate enough offense for the squad but coming up just short.
Boys lacrosse
Amherst 15, South Hadley 4 โ The Hurricanes dominated their Western Mass. Class B semifinal round matchup against the Tigers, winning their third matchup between the two teams this season.
With the win, Amherst moves on to the Class B finals, matching up with Pope Francis on Saturday, May 23, at noon at Springfield Central.

Baseball
South Hadley 4, Monument Mtn 2 — Three runs in the first three innings lifted the Tigers past the Spartans.
Brody Keller and Lincoln Belsky each went 2-for-3 at the plate for South Hadley.
Smith Voc 6, Minuteman Regional 3 — The Vikings have now won six of seven after their non-conference victory on Thursday.
Kaleb Jorritsma (2-for-4, triple) starred from the batter’s box for Smith Voc, which went ahead, 5-0, after two innings of play.
Southwick 3, Amherst 1 — Despite the loss, Hurricanes pitcher Greg King notched his 100th career strikeout versus the Rams.
Gus Garrett Peltier had one hit and one RBI for Amherst.
Northampton 10, Hampshire 7 — The Blue Devils scored three runs in the ninth inning to take Thursday’s marathon battle.
Northampton avenged its tie with the Raiders from just last week with the victory.
Softball
South Hadley 14, Smith Academy 0 — It was the Sienna Laflesh show on Thursday as the Tigers’ hurler fanned 11 in the shutout victory.
Offensively, Grace Matyszewski powered the victors with three hits and four RBIs.

Girls tennis
Holyoke 3, SICS 2 — Madison Bruso (second singles), Abby Ngure (third singles) and Nora Proulx & Elena Carpentier (first doubles) led the Purple Knights in the final match of the season.
Outdoor track
Boys: Southwick 63, Holyoke 58
Girls: Holyoke 62, Southwick 55 — The Purple Knights split its dual-meet with the Rams at the Atkinson Track.
Holyoke’s girls squad improved to 2-2 on the season.
