William D. “Bill” Harrop

Granby, MA – William D. “Bill” Harrop passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, with his family by his side at the age of 82. He was born on November 7, 1943, in Holyoke, MA, to the late William and Margaret (Bernier) Harrop. Bill was a life-long resident of Granby, MA. He was a local business owner in the construction industry, retiring from Harrop Construction Co. after many years.

Bill’s passion for muscle cars was well-known, and he took great joy in attending car shows, especially going to the Chrysler Nationals in Carlile, PA. An avid traveler, Bill enjoyed exploring the scenic landscapes of New England and the sunny shores of Florida. Together with his wife, Kathy, he was an active member of the Pioneer Valley Camping Club Chapter 8, where they created lasting memories with fellow camping enthusiasts. Bill’s love for animals was profound, a sentiment shared with his late dog, Ginger.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Kathy Harrop, who stood by his side through life’s journey. Bill also leaves behind his beloved daughter, Sarah Harrop, and his brother, David Harrop, who will cherish the memories they shared as well as many lifelong friends, especially Wayne Tack and Mark Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (Bernier) and brother, Ronald Harrop.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with a visitation period from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Catholic service at 10:30 am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Bill will be laid to rest in West St. Cemetery immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Bill’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org, or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org. Bill’s legacy will continue in the hearts of those who knew him and through the causes he held dear.
