To my fellow Hadley residents, having served on the Select Board for the past six years I am encouraging you to vote “yes” on Tuesday, June 2. To put it simply: To maintain the current level of services we have, we must pass the $1.5 million override.

There is confusion about the wording on the ballot: If you want the $1.5 million override, please vote “yes” for both question 1 and 2. If both pass with over 50% of the votes, the higher dollar amount is enacted. Last year when the override failed, 10 positions had to be cut. Voting “yes” does not restore those positions (except three firefighters), but keeps further positions from being cut.

Thank you for electing me to serve on the Select Board. It has been an interesting, challenging and fulfilling experience. I have learned the magnitude and variety of the issues that a small town faces. I wish more of you could understand fully the depth and complexity there is in running a small town. See you at the Senior Center.
