Rose Cabrera

Easthampton, MA – Rose Salome Cabrera, 69, of Easthampton, passed away at her home on Friday May 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, to Elias Cabrera and Maria Bisono-Cabrera on November 26, 1956.

She and her six siblings immigrated to New York as children before planting roots in Northampton, Massachusetts. A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, she studied Spanish Literature, Latin American Studies, and Fine Arts. For more than 30 years, she worked at the Montessori School of Northampton, where her dedication to sharing Latinx culture and the Spanish language was a lifelong passion and became her enduring legacy to generations of students. Rose’s home was a welcoming sanctuary for friends and family, where she shared her love of cooking and gardening.

She leaves behind her children, Paloma, Jacob, and Aviva; her sons-in-law, Patrick and Dylan; her daughter-in-law, Jillian; her granddaughter, Cora; her siblings and mother; her beloved life partner, Peter; and a community of friends, colleagues, students, and members of her Jewish congregation.

She was predeceased by her father, Elias Cabrera.

Burial will be private on Tuesday May 26th at the B’nai Israel Cemetery, 476 N. King St., Northampton. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON has been entrusted with her services.

Shiva will be observed at Rose’s home, 241 East St., Easthampton beginning Tuesday, May 26, at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, beginning at 6:00 PM.
