EASTHAMPTON — A near head-on collision between a car and a tractor-trailer at about 9:30 Friday morning left two people with minor injuries and closed Holyoke Street for nearly two hours.

Police said details are limited since the accident is still under investigation, but it was likely caused by one of the vehicles — an 18-wheel tractor-trailer and an SUV — veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with the other.

Significant damage was sustained to the front of the two vehicles involved, each with only one operator. Police said no arrests were made and charges may be filed after the investigation is complete.

There was airbag deployment for both vehicles and there is no suspicion of operating under the influence, police said.
