The headline at the top of the Gazette’s page B6 on May 22 looked like some very rare Trump-era good news “Trump cutting super pollutants to save money.” Wow! Two good things in one headline, I thought. But alas, the headline editor had left out two key words. It should have said: “Trump cutting regulations on super pollutants to save money.”
Big difference, especially when the pollutants under discussion are refrigerants, the chemicals that are the core of our widespread refrigeration industry and are orders of magnitude worse for global warming than CO2.
