I was heartened to read the May 19 article, “Affordable housing project in Amherst gets boost with solar power funding.” In an era when the federal government is on a campaign against renewable energy, it’s great to see our local housing authority get the funding to totally heat and cool the 15 duplexes in North Amherst with solar energy. It means that the homes will not only be affordable to buy, but affordable to heat and cool.
Kudos to Valley Community Development, Amherst Municipal Affordable Housing Trust, PV Squared, Rep. Mindy Domb, Sen. Jo Comerford and others in the community for making it happen!
