Our fifth grade class is working on a campaign to protect the forests in Massachusetts. One thing we are doing is increasing the number of new trees that are planted this spring in Amherst. We would like to personally thank Wanczyk Evergreen Nursery, Amherst Nurseries, Hadley Gardener Supply and the Amherst Shade Tree Committee, all of whom donated generously to our efforts. Some of our classmates planned to go to the Amherst Farmers Market on June 6 to give out trees and shrubs, with planting instructions, so that people can plant trees at their home or somewhere else. We really appreciate that these businesses took the time to donate so that our town can have more trees.
