The Friends of the Manhan Rail Trail are excited to share that Easthampton’s Manhan Rail Trail has been selected by the MassTrails team (a partnership of multiple state departments) as one of 2026’s MassTrails10 trails.
Each year, MassTrails highlights 10 trails throughout the state that offer exemplary opportunities for recreation, transportation, accessibility, and community connection. This year, the Manhan Rail Trail is one of only two trails recognized from western Massachusetts and we are proud to represent our side of the state.
Each week the state Department of Conservation and Recreation will highlight a different MassTrails10 awardee, and the Manhan Rail Trail is being recognized the week of June 9, 2026.
The Manhan Rail Trail is a crucial conduit on the network of trails connecting communities throughout Massachusetts, particularly on the Norwottuck section of the Mass Central Rail Trail.
In honor of this recognition, the Friends of the Manhan Rail Trail encourages our community to celebrate by getting out on the trail — be it for a bike ride, a walk, or to access one of the many wonderful small businesses found along the 6-mile path. We are fortunate to have this popular facility in our community, and would like to thank all of the volunteers and city employees who work throughout the year to maintain the trail.
