Hampshire County’s outdoor track and field athletes are next up on the Daily Hampshire Gazette’s All-Stars schedule.
Automatic selections were made for Athletes who participated at the Meet of Champions, while the remaining picks were largely based on performances during the various state meets.
Honorable mentions were named for athletes who didn’t meet the Gazette’s All-Stars criteria, but still deserved recognition.
Outdoor Track & Field All Stars
Boys
Nicolas Lisle | Amherst
Lisle dominated the 800-meter all season long for the Hurricanes, capping off the year by taking home fourth place at the Meet of Champions (1:54.95). The senior impressed in the same event at the Division 4 state meet as well, with his personal best of 1:53.75 good for second place.
Owen Platt | Amherst
The 400m was where Platt found success this year, with his 50.84 earning him fourth place at the state meet. Punching his ticket to the Meet of Champions for the Hurricanes, the senior came in 22nd with a time of 50.56.
Calvin Miller | Amherst
Miller was the Hurricanes’ best distance runner in 2026, clocking a personal best of 9:31.68 in the two mile at the state meet for third place, and a 4:35.07 in the one mile for 13th place. At the Meet of Champions, the junior ran a 4:24.58 in the one mile, earning him 23rd place.
Oscar Schiff | Hampshire
At the Division 6 state meet, Schiff took home 10th place in the two mile, finishing in 9:39.29. The senior clocked 13th in the one mile as well, with a time of 4:31.58.
Owen Cubi | Hampshire
Cubi had similar success in his two individual events at the state meet for the Raiders, finishing the one mile in 10th place (4:30.87). In the 800m, the junior’s 2:03.74 was good for 15th place.
Jaybriel Rivera Soto | Holyoke
Rivera Soto was the lone Purple Knight to place in the top five of the Division 5 state meet, with a fourth place finish in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 15.38.
Georlee Aponte | Holyoke
Just shy of the top five, Aponte did well in the javelin throw at the state meet, earning seventh place with a throw of 42.92m (140-10) for the Purple Knights.
Ryan Kennedy | Holyoke
Kennedy participated in two events at the state meet, taking home ninth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.65, and 13th in the 400m, clocking a personal best of 51.69.
Henry Daggett | Northampton
Daggett’s seventh place finish in the two mile with a time of 9:50.33 in the Division 4 state meet was complimented by a 16th place finish in the one mile with a personal best time of 4:36.65.
Gus Frey | Northampton
Right behind his teammate, Frey came in eighth place in the state meet’s two mile with a 9:51.77. The junior also nabbed 21st in the one mile for the Blue Devils, finishing in 4:42.68.
Matt Gillis | South Hadley
Matt Gillis had a busy day at the Division 6 state meet, competing in the pentathlon for the Tigers. The senior’s performance included top five finishes in each section, highlighted by earning the top spot in the pentathlon high jump with a jump of 1.80m (5-10.75).
Benjamin Gillis | South Hadley
Benjamin Gillis participated in the pentathlon at the state meet for the Tigers, finishing within the top 10 of each section. The senior highest placement came in the pentathlon long jump, reaching 6.35m (20-10.00).

Girls
Ololara Baptiste | Amherst
The Hurricanes had four individual representatives at the Meet of Champions, with Baptiste’s performance standing out among the rest. The junior earned a podium spot in the 400m, clocking a time of 56.56. Her dominance in the event carried on from the Division 4 state meet, where her 57.14 earned first place
Ella Austin | Amherst
Austin was right behind her teammate, taking home second place in the 400m at the state meet with her personal best time of 58.02, while also earning sixth in the 800m (2:19.80). At the Meet of Champions, the junior’s 59.20 in the 400m was good for 14th.
Claire Fortin | Amherst
In the triple jump, Fortin consistently placed well throughout the season, capped off by a third place finish at the state meet with a personal best jump of 11.09m (36-04.75). At the meet of Champions, the sophomore earned 20th place in the triple jump at 10.80m (35-05.25).
Tansy Warwick | Amherst
Warwick was the fourth and final individual participant at the Meet of Champions for the Hurricanes, finishing in 20th place in the high jump with a leap of 1.52m (5-00.00) to end her freshman year.
Aubrey Klingensmith | Belchertown
As the lone Oriole at the Meet of Champions, Klingensmith did well to represent, taking home ninth in the javelin throw with a toss of 34.36m (112-09). The sophomore backed up a great showing at the Division 5 state meet where her throw of 35.68m (117-01) earned her the top spot.
Morgan Wijnhoven | Easthampton
Wijnhoven was a reserve at the Meet of Champions for the Eagles in the 100m, after a solid performance at the Division 6 state meet. The senior took home eighth place with a 13.20 in the 100m, also earning 11th in the 400m (1:02.08).
Brooke Hockenberry | Hampshire
Distance running was where Hockenberry found success this season, competing in both the 800m (28th – 2:19.34) and the one mile (25th – 5:10.91) at the Meet of Champions. Prior to her showing on the big stage, the sophomore earned second place in both events at the Division 6 state meet with a 2:18.38 in the 800m and a 5:07.59 in the one mile.
Yasani Thompson | Holyoke
Thompson was dominant in the 200m and 400m in 2026, taking home third place in the 200m at the Meet of Champions (24.82), and seventh in the 400m (57.90). At the Division 5 state meet, the senior earned first place in the 200m prelims (25.29) before a DNF in the finals, and second in the 400m (58.82).
Ella Hoogendyk | Northampton
Hoogendyk’s leaping ability was on full display at the Meet of Champions, taking home fifth place in the triple jump with a personal best of 11.49m (37-08.50), along with eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:05.73). At the Division 4 state meet, the senior earned second in the triple jump (11.17m, 36-07.75) and fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:07.50).
Mairead O’Neil | Northampton
The Blue Devils also had O’Neil to show out in distance running events at the Meet of Champions, with her 11:05.28 in the two mile good for seventh place, and 5:09.66 in the one mile earning 23rd. The junior’s 11:14.72 in the two mile at the state meet finished in second, while her 5:09.08 in the one mile took home fourth.
Natalie Rios | South Hadley
Rios came through for the Tigers in the Meet of Champions in a huge way in 2026, taking home first place in the javelin throw with her toss of 38.20m (125-04). The junior also placed well at the Division 6 state meet, with her throw of 36.09m (118-05) good for second place.
Aimee George | South Hadley
Also finding success in the javelin throw for the Tigers, George came in 14th place at the Meet of Champions with her throw of 33.02m (108-04). The junior was even better at the state meet, earning third place with a 35.66m (117-00).
