GOSHEN — Saturday will be about sundaes.
Tilton Farm, the town’s municipal farm on Wing Hill Road, will hold an ice cream social from 1 to 3 p.m.
The town’s Council on Aging will be scooping ice cream with toppings available. Live music will be presented by Sidetracked, a classic rock band.
There are a few picnic tables, but those interested are also invited to bring their own chairs. The event is open to all ages and is entirely free. It is sponsored by a grant from the Goshen Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Vyntyge Skynyrd
WORTHINGTON — The Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band Vyntyge Skynyrd will perform at the Worthington Golf Course, 113 Ridge Road, on Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. To those attending: don’t forget lawn chairs or blankets.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. ahead of their “Hot Shot Hillbillies Show.” Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased online. Alcohol can be purchased on site. Kids are welcome but only service dogs are allowed.
“Vyntyge Skynyrd celebrates the 1970s era of the band by replicating the music as it was originally recorded and captures the fire and heart and soul of the band,” says the band’s website.
Horse Pull back again
CUMMINGTON — Horse power will be on display for a second consecutive year as the Cummington Fairgrounds gears up for another horse pull.
A horse pull, also known as draft horse pulling, is a competitive event where teams of draft horses, typically two, pull a weighted sled or stone boat. The objective is to determine which team can pull the heaviest load over a set distance, in this case, almost two tons over a 12-foot distance.
The event begins at 10 a.m. at 97 Fairgrounds Road. Weigh-ins will begin at 7 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person at the gate. Those aged 12 and under are free.
Legislators to hold town hall
GOSHEN — Sen. Paul Mark, D-Peru, and Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa, D-Northampton, will hold a town hall on Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to discuss recent and upcoming legislation being filed at the State House.
Residents also will have the opportunity to ask questions. Refreshments will be provided. The town hall takes place in the John James Memorial Town Hall auditorium, 42 Main St.
Next week’s municipal meetings
Chesterfield’s Select Board meets Monday at 3 p.m. in Town Offices, 422 Main Road. An agenda was not posted as of Thursday.
Cake and a celebration will cap off Monday’s Planning Board meeting in Williamsburg as members take a vote to approve a finalized draft of the town’s comprehensive plan. During the meeting, the board will also elect a chairperson. Steve Smith is currently in that role. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. on the second floor of Town Offices, 141 Main St. in Haydenville.
The Anne T. Dunphy School Committee meets on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at 1 Petticoat Hill Road. The meeting will discuss line item transfers.
The Goshen-Chesterfield New Hingham School Committee meets Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the New Hingham Regional Elementary School, 30 Smith Road in Chesterfield.
The Chesterfield Recreation Committee meets Thursday at 6 p.m. in Town Offices, 422 Main Road. An agenda has yet to be posted.
