Seventy-two million people are expected on roads this year for one holiday because it’s finally falling on a Saturday and it happens to be our 250th. I have always believed that certain holidays should be consistently held over a weekend and based on their title and not a particular date; July 4th is one of them.
By simply changing the name to “Independence Day” and placing it on a Saturday every year, the economic factor alone will be astounding! People will be booking sometimes more than a year in advance for their hotel rooms and stays of where they would like to experience this holiday. This year happens to be the 250th year of us getting freedom from the kings of England so we could experience religious and other freedoms. But even with that in mind, I truly believe that this could be an economic boost all over this country if the holiday was changed to Independence Day and is always on a weekend.
Noting similarly, Super Bowl Saturdays could be a smashing success in the same way. No more Monday morning call-outs from work if it’s always held on a Saturday night. And just like Independence Day, people would be booking and planning their parties as soon as they knew who was playing (many don’t even care particularly they just want to have a Super Bowl party or attend one) and where the event would be held and the economic boost would be once again pretty darn amazing! Party on.
