CHESTERFIELD — Police have closed North Road off Route 143 in both directions after a tractor-trailer hauling pipes for a road construction project became stuck Monday afternoon.

The truck became lodged around 3:30 p.m., according to Police Chief Peter Fappiano. The trailer came to rest perpendicular to the roadway, blocking both travel lanes.

Interstate Towing was expected to arrive around 4:30 p.m. to remove the truck. Fappiano advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the road is reopened.
