I am surprised that on July 20, page A6, the Gazette’s opinion page editor chose to print Dave Granlund’s cartoon of a man and a woman at a salad bar, each dressed in personal protective gear with a sign overhead that reads, “Cyclospora, INTESTINAL BUG.”  This association of illness with humor is in poor taste. It is as inappropriate as if a cartoon was set in a well-attended bar that includes a couple each with a prominent measles rash on their faces.  Or in a jungle setting that works in references to mosquitos and malaria. Or elsewhere to be able to include bed bugs.
