GOSHEN, MA – Arlene May (Sabo) Harry, known as Nana, 100, of Goshen, died Tuesdy, July 21, 2026, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 17 days before her 101st birthday.
Born August 7, 1925, to Michael and Ruth Woodbury Sabo, she grew up on a Goshen farm and was valedictorian of Williamsburg High School’s Class of 1943. She trained as an LPN, later worked in intensive care, helped establish the Goshen Ambulance service and became an EMT.
Arlene married Master Sergeant Richard H. Harry on Oct 5, 1946. They shared 49 years of marriage and raised four sons: Richard H. of Pittsfield, Michael W. of Salmon, Idaho, and John L. and Matthew W., both of Goshen.
She served on building committees for Hampshire Regional High School and New Hingham Regional Elementary School, the Historical Commission and School Committee, and helped organize Goshen’s flower show. She was a deaconess and choir member at Goshen Congregational Church.
Above all, Arlene was Goshen’s neighborhood mom. Her home was always open, her cookie jar full, and her yard often held enough children for two baseball teams.
She leaves 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, her sister K. Ann Warner, and the Miller girls and their mother, Eileen. She was predeceased by her husband, granddaughter Deana, three siblings and her parents.
A service will be held at the Goshen Congregational Church, 45 Main St., Goshen on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. with desserts following.
