Northampton, MA – Donna Mae (Hubbard) Cavanagh, 77, of Northampton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Northampton, where she had lived for more than 55 years.
Born in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Donna graduated from Frontier Regional High School with the Class of 1966. On September 6, 1968, she married the love of her life, Daniel Thomas Cavanagh II. They shared nearly 25 years of marriage until Daniel’s passing on February 22, 1993.
For more than 45 years, Donna devoted her career to caring for children as a licensed daycare provider. She welcomed generations of children into her home, providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. Her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on countless families throughout the Northampton area.
Donna had a lifelong love of animals. Whether family pets or wildlife, her compassion reflected the warmth and generosity that defined her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Tracy Cavanagh Balboni, and son-in-law, Armand Balboni; her son, Mark Thomas Cavanagh; and her cherished granddaughter, Maya Elizabeth Balboni, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her twin sister, Brenda Lutfy; her sister, Diane Rivers; many nieces and nephews, including her beloved niece, Pamela Santos; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her husband, Donna was predeceased by her sister, Nancy O’Connell, and her brothers, Jeffrey Fawcett and Edward Fawcett.
Donna will be remembered for her quiet strength, gentle smile, unwavering devotion to her family, and the love she freely shared with every child and every animal fortunate enough to cross her path. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her compassion, generosity, and care.
A private family memorial service will be held on August 17, 2026. Arrangements are under the care of Czelusniak Funeral Home.
