Easthampton native and Williston product, Colin Larson, was selected as the Cape Cod Baseball League’s John J. Claffey Award winner as the most outstanding New England player, on Wednesday.
Larson is currently an outfielder for the Harwich Mariners and batted .264 with 24 runs scored during the regular season. The Mariners advanced to the second round of the playoffs Wednesday after sweeping the Brewster Whitecaps.
A rising junior at Boston College, Larson starred in 58 games for the Eagles and recorded a .225 batting average with 21 RBIs, including three home runs, this past season.
At Williston, Larson graduated as the program’s all-time hits leader in 2024 with 78.
Sullivan scurries to second at Seekonk half-marathon
Trevor Sullivan secured second place at the Funky Monkey half marathon in Seekonk on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Sullivan took the runner-up spot in one hour, 22 minutes and 44 seconds, which trailed the overall winning time by about one second.
Sullivan, who competes for South Hadley’s indoor and outdoor track teams, won the male 19 & under age group with the fast finish in the 13.1-mile race.
Earlier this summer, Sullivan set a school record while racing at New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, sprinting to a time of 9:30.19 in the 2-mile.
