Florence, MA – Karen Louise Lingner Korvek, 76, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. Born in Northampton on December 31, 1949, she was the daughter of William and Kathryn (Carnes) Lingner.
Karen began working at Big Y while attending Northampton High School and Westfield State College. She found work more fulfilling than college and became a full-time employee, later serving as a front-end manager. After her husband retired, she returned to school and attended Springfield Technical Community College and UMass Amherst, ultimately earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. She then accepted a position with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in Northampton, where she eventually managed the Construction Laboratory.
She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Lesko (Robert) and Judith Snyder (Don), several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and two step-daughters. She was predeceased by her husband, Zigmund Korvek, her step-son Paul, and step-daughter Mary-Ellen.
Karen loved Scottish Terriers and shared their independent spirit. She approached every challenge with quiet determination and a deep sense of responsibility Her life was full and purposeful and many stories will be told over the years ahead. She will be deeply missed.
A Visitation will be held at Czelusniak Funeral Services in Northampton, MA on August 12, 2026, from 9am to 10 am, followed by an In-House Service at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Northampton.
