Misguided or ill-informed voters are less to blame
Bombarded with lies, false statistics, and unverified threats it is understandable that millions of Americans remain loyal to Donald Trump. It is the thousands of opportunistic legislators, lawyers, political strategists and competing wannabes who bear the blame for the destruction to our democratic system. Those ethically challenged and parasitic loyalists who never respond to revealed corruption, sexual predation, horrific immigrant bashing and unprovoked wars are the real culprits.
It is almost impossible to keep count, or oversight, of the multitude of executive orders, de-regulatory actions, disrupted careers, and intrusive surveillance that is occurring throughout the country. And in the face of such democracy destroying activity only a mere handful of legislators speak up and are willing to pay the consequences. Judges who consistently rule against the administration are the bravest as they face threats to their safety or are overturned by a Trump-compliant Supreme Court.
As long as shame, or inevitable prosecution, is “trumped” by the 15 minutes of celebrity, or the pension or fortune enhancement, the trajectory will be a continuing dismantlement of democracy.
