Robin Rose Gingras died at home in Montague, MA, in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, with her husband Mark Siddall by her side.
Robin was born in Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1961, the daughter of Raymond L. Gingras and Terry S. Gingras of Haydenville, MA. She spent her childhood between her parents’ home in Haydenville and her grandparent’s, Mac and Norma Smith’s home, in Williamsburg, MA.
Robin was a graduate of Stockbridge School of Agriculture and the University Without Walls at UMass, Amherst.
She had an eclectic professional life. She began as a co-owner of Rumpelstiltskin Building Salvage in Haydenville, MA. She later opened her own landscaping and gardening business, Wildwood, which she ran from 1991 until 1997. Her landscaping and gardening talents were in constant use, however, until her death. Her biggest and most meaningful project was the 26-year development of her gardens at her home, in Montague, MA.
She also worked for Dr. Hauschka Skincare in Hatfield for 10 years, as a national sales coordinator; as assistant to the quality control manager for Chartpak in Leeds, MA; and as a sales representative for OESCO, Inc. in Conway, MA from 2013 until 2018. In 2018 she left employment to care full-time for her aging parents in Haydenville, MA until their respective deaths.
Robin simply made the world more beautiful. She brought her abilities with the nuances of color and scale to the interior design of her home and to her many artistic pursuits. She was a master-hand at landscaping planning and gardening; she became deeply involved in watercolor painting and produced many studies of the natural world. Beginning in 2018 she fell in love with quilting and became a highly accomplished quilter and seamstress. Her works are distinctive and elegant, following traditional American and Japanese quilting aesthetics. Toward the end of her life, she focused on small-scale works of hand-embroidery, often joining with a dear friend to create common projects.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mark H. Siddall, of Montague, MA; her brother and sister-in-law Curt and Doreen Siddall of Lisbon Falls, ME; sister-in-law Jennifer Siddall of Amherst, MA; and her brothers John and Steven Gingras of Holyoke, MA and Hawley, MA respectively. She leaves behind many dear friends in the Massachusetts Pioneer Valley; Morrisville, VT; Chippewa Bay, NY; and New London, NH.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2027 at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously in Robin’s memory to the VNA/Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, PO Box 329, Northampton, MA 01061-0329.
