NORTHAMPTON — A portion of downtown’s Pulaski Park was cordoned off Saturday while police investigate a stabbing, according to Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra.
Police apprehended a suspect in the stabbing, and the victim was transported to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, the mayor said in a statement.
“I am deeply disturbed to learn of the stabbing incident in Pulaski Park today,” Sciarra said in a statement. “While the investigation is ongoing, police believe the people involved were known to one another.”
She said that police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
