Through the course of my life, I’ve had the privilege of serving my community in many different ways.

I recently retired after over 20 years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, I’ve spent nearly two decades as a federal civilian employee, and I’ve dedicated countless volunteer hours to suicide prevention, LGBTQ+ advocacy and nonprofit leadership. Those experiences have taught me that the best leaders aren’t the ones who seek attention; they’re the ones who show up, listen and work alongside the people they serve.

Those are the qualities I see in Jeromie Whalen. Politics has become increasingly divided, but I believe our representatives should be judged less by political rhetoric and more by their character, accessibility and willingness to serve.

Jeromie approaches leadership with humility, compassion and a genuine desire to hear from the people he hopes to represent. Rather than talking at constituents, he listens to them. Rather than promising easy solutions, he’s willing to have honest conversations about difficult issues.

After spending my own life in public service, I’ve learned to recognize leadership that comes from a place of service instead of ambition. That is why Jeromie has earned my support. Every voter deserves to make an informed decision, and I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to meet the candidates, ask questions and engage in the democratic process.

As for me, I’ll be casting my vote for Jeromie Whalen because I believe he represents the kind of thoughtful, community centered leadership that Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District deserves.
