NORTHAMPTON — A Plainfield man was ordered held on $100,000 bail Friday by Judge Shelley-Ann Sankar after being arraigned on more than a dozen child sex crime charges in Northampton District Court.
Shawn Stebbins, 41, was charged with six counts of aggravated rape and abuse of a child, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, and dissemination of obscene matter to a child. The charges relate to alleged offenses committed between 2022 and 2026.
Assistant District Attorney Jillian Parent is prosecuting this case on behalf of the commonwealth and Northampton attorney Zoe Zeichner was appointed to represent Stebbins, who is expected to return to Northampton District Court next on Sept. 11.
The case remains under active investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office (NWDAO).
