The Valley Ultimate Gx (girls division) U20 team secured ninth place at the Youth Club National Championships in Aurora, Colorado earlier this month.
Valley Ultimate featured players from Northampton, Amherst, Four Rivers and Deerfield Academy for a complete roster of 25 players.
Valley lost its first two games of the tournament, falling to Colorado (Cutthroat) and California (Current), before rattling off wins against Maine (Ripetide), Virginia (Valkeries) and Illinois (Lucid).
Due to a forfeit, Valley received a bye into the ninth-place contest, where it matched up against North Carolina (Warhawks). Northampton’s Alysha Parshall-Matylas set up the deciding score with a long toss to Four Rivers’ Stella Langlands.
Parshall-Matylas and fellow Northampton native Naomi Durbin each paced Valley with six goals throughout the tournament, which finished with a 5-2 record overall.
Leila Tunnell has been the head coach of the Valley squad since its inception in 2017.
New England Oaks lacrosse
Pickup lacrosse programs will begin at the Mountain View School in Easthampton this week.
Programs will run on Thursdays starting at 6:30 p.m. All ages, genders and abilities are welcome for this free program.
Northampton summer recreation league softball
For the ninth straight season, JamrogHVAC captured the Northampton summer adult softball league division A coed championship earlier this month.
Managed by Patrick Fenton, JamrogHVAC defeated Green Rock, 10-1.
