Boliver, WV – Peter Alec Gervickas passed peacefully away on July 17, 2026. He was born January 8, 1948 in Northampton, Massachusetts to Mitchell and Sophia Gervickas. He grew up in South Amherst and enjoyed fishing in Fort River and hunting with his father and brothers. Peter was a 1966 graduate of Amherst High School. After graduating from Westfield State College in 1970 he started teaching in Pelham, Massachusetts. He continued his career in education for nearly four decades working internationally in Puerto Rico and Brazil, eventually returning to Amherst as a teacher and administrator. He was a beloved teacher to countless children who knew him as "Mr. G." He believed in engaging with students individually and making their unique needs a priority.
Peter was predeceased by his parents and oldest brother Mickey. He is survived by his son U.S. Marine Veteran Cody and his wife Jamie of West Virginia, brothers Steven of Massachusetts, Jeffrey (Susan) of Virginia , sister Susan Bosco and her husband Joe of West Virginia and former wife Diana DeNyse of West Virginia. He also leaves his beloved dog Matilda. Services will be private.
